Kenji Honnami (本並 健治, Honnami Kenji, born June 23, 1964) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was a talented goalkeeper who played for top clubs in Japan and also represented the Japanese national team.

Playing for Clubs
Kenji Honnami was born in Hirakata, Japan, on June 23, 1964. After finishing college at Osaka University of Commerce, he joined a football club called Matsushita Electric in 1986. This club later became very famous as Gamba Osaka.
Early Career Success
With Matsushita Electric, Kenji Honnami helped his team win the Emperor's Cup in 1990. This was a big achievement for the club. In 1992, a new and exciting league called the J1 League was created in Japan. Kenji became the main goalkeeper for Gamba Osaka.
Moving to Tokyo Verdy
Even though he was a regular player, Kenji started to play less often from 1996. So, in the middle of the 1997 season, he moved to another well-known club, Verdy Kawasaki. This club later changed its name to Tokyo Verdy. At first, he was a backup goalkeeper. But by 1999, he became the main goalkeeper again. Kenji Honnami played his last professional game in 2001 and then retired from playing football.
Playing for Japan
Kenji Honnami also had the honor of playing for the Japanese national team. His first game for Japan was on May 29, 1994, against France. He played a total of three games for his country in 1994.
Becoming a Coach
After his playing career, Kenji Honnami decided to become a football manager. In August 2012, he took on the role of manager for a women's football club called Speranza FC Osaka-Takatsuki. This club later became Konomiya Speranza Osaka-Takatsuki. He managed the team until the end of the 2016 season.
