First Marriage and Children
On 22 September 1915, Kenneth married Frances Caroline Joan Moriarty. Her father was John Francis Moriarty, a high-ranking judge in Ireland. Kenneth and Frances had four children together before they divorced in 1931.

- Kenneth James William Mackay, 3rd Earl of Inchcape (born 27 December 1917 – died 17 March 1994). He later became the 3rd Earl.

Second Marriage and Children
On 1 June 1933, Kenneth married Leonora Margaret Brooke. Her father was Charles Vyner Brooke, who was the Rajah of Sarawak. Her mother was Sylvia Brett, the Ranee of Sarawak. Kenneth and Leonora had two children.
