The Kentucky Oaks Mall is a large indoor shopping mall located in Paducah, Kentucky, United States. It was built by the Cafaro Company, which still owns and manages it today. This mall is a popular spot with over 100 stores!

You can find many well-known stores here. Some of the biggest ones, called "anchor stores," include Burlington, Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, two Dillard's stores, HomeGoods, J. C. Penney, and Ross Dress for Less. Other popular places to shop are H&M, Five Below, and Shoe Dept. Encore.

How the Mall Started

The Kentucky Oaks Mall first opened its doors in 1982. It was built near U.S. Route 60 (Hinkleville Road) and Interstate 24. When it first opened, it had several big stores. These included JCPenney, Sears, Ben Snyder's (which later became Hess's and then Dillard's), and Meis. Meis later changed its name to Elder-Beerman in 1989.

In 1989, a store called Venture opened its first Kentucky location at the mall. However, the Venture store closed in 1998. It was replaced by Shopko in May 1999.

New Stores and Changes

Shopko only stayed for two years, closing in 2001. Around the early 2000s, more large stores were built around the mall. These included a Walmart Supercenter and a The Home Depot store.

By 2003, a store called K's Merchandise Mart opened in the old Shopko spot. Then, in mid-2004, Best Buy and Old Navy joined the mall. Best Buy took over the space where a Ruby Tuesday restaurant used to be.

K's Merchandise closed its doors on November 7, 2006, because the company went out of business. Even with this store closing, the mall continued to grow. In 2006, new stores like Hollister Co. and New York & Company opened. In November 2010, Dick's Sporting Goods opened in the large space where K's Merchandise used to be.

Recent Updates

In 2016, Sears announced that its store at the mall would be closing. It officially closed on March 19, 2017. Elder-Beerman also closed in 2018.

The Cafaro Company, which owns the mall, shared plans in late 2018 to update these empty spaces. The old Sears area was planned for Burlington, Ross Dress for Less, and other smaller shops. The former Elder-Beerman space was set to become Five Below and HomeGoods. As part of these changes, a popular clothing store, H&M, also opened in the mall.
