Kenyam's Recent History
Presidential Visit in 2015
On December 31, 2015, the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, visited Kenyam. He was joined by the First Lady, Iriana. The purpose of their visit was to check on the building of a new road. This road will connect Nduga with another town called Wamena.
The President and his group traveled for two hours to reach Kenyam. They used different types of transportation, including a special military plane and a helicopter.
Connecting Regions with New Roads and Ports
During his visit, President Widodo also talked about future plans. He mentioned that a large port would be built in Mumugu. This port is in Asmat Regency, which is part of South Papua Province.
The new port will be connected to Nduga Regency by land routes. This means that goods and supplies can be easily moved. They can travel from the port to all the different districts in Papua using these new roads. This will help with trade and make it easier for people to get what they need.
Kenyam's Tropical Weather
Kenyam has a tropical rainforest climate. This type of climate means it gets a lot of rain all year round. It's usually warm and humid, which is typical for places near the equator.
