Early Life and High School Football
Keron Henry grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He went to Brooklyn Technical High School. While there, he was an amazing football player. He was even named an all-state player for New York, which means he was one of the best in the whole state!
College Career at UConn
After high school, Henry decided to play college football at the University of Connecticut. He started out playing as a quarterback, which is the player who throws the ball.
However, he got a knee injury. Because of this, another player, Dan Orlovsky, took over as quarterback. To get back on the field and keep playing, Henry made a big change. He switched positions to become a wide receiver. This change worked out really well! He ended up catching passes for over 1,600 yards during his college career. In his very last game for the UConn Huskies, which was the 2004 Motor City Bowl, he caught 9 passes.
Professional Football Journey
After college, Keron Henry hoped to join the NFL. He was not chosen in the 2005 NFL draft, but he still got a chance to play professionally.
Starting in the NFL
Henry first signed with the New Orleans Saints. He spent a few weeks on their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the main team but don't usually play in games. They help the main team practice and are ready to step in if needed. After a short time, he was released by the Saints.
Playing in NFL Europe
On January 12, 2006, Henry signed with the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers then sent him to play for the Berlin Thunder. This team was part of NFL Europe, a league where NFL teams would send players to gain experience. He played there for a while before the Chargers released him on June 1, 2006.
Joining the Patriots and Arena Football
Later that year, on July 25, 2006, Henry signed with the New England Patriots.
He then went on to play in the Arena Football League (AFL). The AFL is a different kind of football played indoors on a smaller field. Henry played for the New York Dragons for two seasons, in 2007 and 2008.
