Kevin Belcher's Baseball Journey
Starting in College Baseball
Kevin Belcher began his baseball journey playing college baseball at Navarro College in 1986. His talent was noticed, and the Texas Rangers picked him in the sixth round of the 1987 MLB draft. This was a big step towards his dream of playing professional baseball.
Climbing Through the Minor Leagues
After being drafted, Kevin started his professional career in the Gulf Coast League. This is a league for new players. He worked his way up through the Rangers' farm system, which is how teams develop young players. In 1989, he was named an all-star in the South Atlantic League, playing at the Class A level. By 1990, he reached Double-A baseball.
Making It to the Major Leagues
In 1990, Kevin Belcher got a special chance to play in the MLB. He was called up to the Texas Rangers in September. He made his MLB debut on September 3, 1990, as a pinch hitter in a game against the Cleveland Indians.
