Kevin Kugler is a well-known American sportscaster. This means he's a person who talks about sports on TV or radio. He mostly works on radio. Kevin works for a company called Westwood One. Working with Westwood One
Kevin Kugler started working for Westwood One's sports division in 2004. That year, he began announcing games for the College World Series, which is a big baseball tournament for college teams. He still does this today. He was also the main announcer for college football games on the network until 2009.
After another famous announcer, Harry Kalas, passed away, Kevin was chosen to take his place for Westwood One's NFL football broadcasts. He teamed up with Mark Malone, a former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, who helps explain the games. They have worked together since the 2009 season.
In 2012, Kevin became the main substitute announcer for Sunday night NFL games. He would fill in when the regular announcer, Dave Sims, was busy with his Seattle Mariners baseball duties. In 2013, Kevin took over the Sunday Night Football games full-time, working with analyst James Lofton. In 2016, Kevin also filled in for Kevin Harlan on two Monday Night Football games.
In 2008, Kevin took over from Kevin Harlan as the main announcer for the Final Four in college basketball. He has called these exciting championship games ever since, working with basketball legends John Thompson and Bill Raftery.
Other Sports Announcing Jobs
In 2011, Kevin Kugler joined the Big Ten Network. Here, he announces college football and basketball games, along with other sports. He also worked with Tony Boselli, a former football player, to announce preseason television games for the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team.
Kevin also announces the famous The Masters golf tournament for Dial Global. He was an anchor and play-by-play announcer for Basketball at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Besides the Big Ten Network, Kevin also calls games for Fox College Hoops. For the 2013-14 college basketball season, he was the second main announcer for the Big Ten Network. He also called first-round games for the 2014 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament with Stephen Bardo.
In the fall of 2015, Kevin teamed up with Matt Millen to be the lead announcing team for college football Saturdays on the Big Ten Network.
Kevin's work expanded to MLB on Fox in 2018. On June 5, 2018, he announced a game between the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals. Later that year, he filled in for Thom Brennaman on a Week 8 NFL game between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions.
Before the 2020 NFL season, Kevin's role with Fox grew even more. He became a regular play-by-play announcer after Thom Brennaman resigned. Kevin continued to announce college basketball games and occasionally filled in for MLB games. In December 2022, he announced an NFL game between the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills on NFL Network.
