Kevin Tierney (born August 27, 1950 – died May 12, 2018) was a Canadian film producer from Montreal. He was well-known for co-writing and producing the movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop. This film became the most popular Canadian movie at the domestic box office. For his work on it, he received a Golden Reel award and the Genie Award for Best Motion Picture in 2007. Kevin Tierney also served as a vice-chair of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. He was also the former chair of the board for Cinémathèque québécoise.

About Bon Cop, Bad Cop
Bon Cop, Bad Cop was a special movie because its characters spoke both English and French. Kevin Tierney thought this was a very normal Canadian story. It was about a police officer from Sûreté du Québec (Quebec's provincial police) working with an investigator from the Ontario Provincial Police. He once said, "When I first heard the idea for this movie... how the hell did we not already make this movie? It’s ridiculous." Tierney explored the theme of language again in 2011. He directed a movie called French Immersion.

Kevin Tierney produced many other films. These include Varian's War, One Dead Indian, Good Neighbours, and Twist.
Besides movies, Tierney also produced several TV shows and miniseries. Some of these were Barnum, Bonanno: The Story of a Godfather, Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, and The Memoirs of Pierre Trudeau. He also worked as an executive producer for the TV movie Choice: The Henry Morgentaler Story.
Writing and Awards
Kevin Tierney also wrote an arts column for the Montreal Gazette newspaper.
He received special recognition for his community work. In 2013, he was given a Sheila and Victor Goldbloom Distinguished Community Service Award. This award honored him as a community leader. After he passed away, he received another award in 2019. At the 7th Canadian Screen Awards, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television gave him a posthumous Board of Directors Tribute Award.
Personal Life
Kevin Tierney grew up in Montreal. He studied at Concordia University and McGill University. After his studies, he taught English as a second language (ESL) in Chad and China. He learned to speak Standard French when he was 24, while teaching in Algeria.
He was the father of Canadian actor and director Jacob Tierney. Kevin Tierney produced Jacob's 2009 film, The Trotsky.
Kevin Tierney passed away from cancer on May 12, 2018. He was surrounded by his family.
