The Key Bank Center is a tall building with 16 floors in Tacoma, Washington. It used to be known as the Puget Sound National Bank Building. When it was finished in 1911, it was called the National Realty Building.
This building stands about 71 meters (233 feet) tall. For a few years, it was the tallest building in the entire state of Washington! It held this record until 1914, when the Smith Tower was built in Seattle.
A Look at Its History
The Key Bank Center has had a few different names over the years. It started as the National Realty Building. Later, it became the Puget Sound National Bank Building. Today, it's known as the Key Bank Center.
Key Bank, a banking company, used to own this tower. They later sold it and moved their main offices to another building nearby. That building now holds Key Bank's main office in Tacoma and their South Puget Sound District Offices.
Design and Features
The Key Bank Center was designed by a famous architect named Frederick Heath. He used beautiful marble from Alaska to build parts of the tower. This shows how special and important the building was when it was first constructed.
Today, the Key Bank Center is used for commercial offices. It's a busy place where many businesses have their workspaces.
