Keysers Ridge is a small place in northern Garrett County, Maryland, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

About Keysers Ridge

Keysers Ridge got its name from William Keyser. He was an important person at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, serving as its vice president. The community is located west of Grantsville. It sits right on Interstate 68. To its northwest, you'll find the Savage River State Forest.

A Key Location

Keysers Ridge is well-known because of its important spot. It's where Interstate 68 and U.S. Route 40 meet. These are two major roads that travelers use. This makes Keysers Ridge a useful stop for people driving through the area.

Weather and History

In the past, Keysers Ridge was a challenging place for travelers. People on the old National Road often worried about the weather here. This was because Keysers Ridge is on top of a ridge, west of Negro Mountain. Its high location meant it often had very harsh weather conditions.

Record Snowfall

Keysers Ridge is also famous for its snow. During the winter of 2009–10, Maryland had its most snowfall ever recorded. An amazing 262.5 inches of snow fell at Keysers Ridge that winter! That's more than 20 feet of snow!
