Who Was Pharaoh Khaba?

Khaba was a king of Ancient Egypt during a time known as the Old Kingdom. This was a period when many famous pyramids were built. As a pharaoh, Khaba was seen as a very important leader, almost like a god on Earth.

Khaba's Family and Reign

We don't know much about Khaba's family. It is thought that he might have been the son of Pharaoh Sekhemkhet and his wife, Djeseretnebti. Some historians also believe that Khaba could have been the father of the next pharaoh, Huni. This would make him the grandfather of Sneferu, another famous pharaoh.

Khaba's rule was quite short, lasting only about three years. Even though his reign was brief, he was an important part of the 3rd Dynasty.

What Does Khaba's Name Mean?

The name Khaba is very interesting. It means "the soul appears". In ancient Egypt, the "soul" or "Ba" was a very important part of a person's spirit. This name suggests a connection to the spiritual world and the pharaoh's divine role.
