Khalid bin Salleh (born 29 February 1948 – died 23 July 2018) was a very talented Malaysian actor and poet. He was known for his powerful performances in both plays and movies, and also for his thoughtful poems.

About Khalid Salleh
Khalid Salleh grew up with his aunt's family. He finished secondary school in Batu Pahat. Before becoming famous, he used to sell medicines on the streets to make a living.
His Creative Work
Khalid Salleh was active in theater and films. He also performed his poems by himself on stage. In the 1970s, he was one of the main actors for famous theater directors like Krishen Jit and Dinsman. He acted in many plays, including "This is not...".
Khalid Salleh also performed internationally. He took part in Monodrama Festivals in places like Taiwan (1989), Japan (1991), Calcutta (1994), and Delhi (1995). A monodrama is a play performed by just one actor. In 2014, he had a very successful show called "The seller of medicines," where he performed alone.
One of the films he starred in, "Kaki Bakar," was shown at the famous Cannes Film Festival in 1995. The next year, in 1996, this film won a top award at the Belgian Film Festival.
Khalid Salleh also wrote poems. Some of his poems were put into books like "Tidak apa-apa" (which means "Nothing") in 1998. Another collection was "Kalau aku jadi PM" (meaning "If I became Prime Minister") published in 2014. In 2011, he wrote a book called "Melayu Hilang Di Dunia" (meaning "The Malays will disappear from the face of the earth"). This book shared his thoughts on important topics about his country.
