Khamis Al-Owairan Al-Dosari (Arabic: خميس العويران الدوسري‎; born 8 September 1973 – died 7 January 2020) was a famous Saudi Arabian footballer. He was known for playing as a midfielder, a position in the middle of the field that helps both attack and defense.

Khamis Al-Dosari was born in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. He spent most of his football career playing for two major clubs: Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad. He also played for the Saudi Arabia national team for many years.

Playing for Saudi Arabia

Khamis Al-Dosari was a very important player for his country's national team. He played in 105 matches for Saudi Arabia, which is a lot! This made him one of the players in the FIFA Century Club, a special group for footballers who have played 100 or more international games.

Major Tournaments

Al-Dosari represented Saudi Arabia in several big international competitions:

  • He was part of the team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, USA.
  • He played in two FIFA World Cup tournaments: the 1998 World Cup in France and the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.
  • He also played in the 1996 AFC Asian Cup and the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. Saudi Arabia won the AFC Asian Cup in 1996, making him an Asian Cup-winning player!
  • He also took part in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 1994 Asian Games.

His Legacy

Khamis Al-Dosari was a respected player known for his skills in midfield. He was a key part of both his club teams and the national team during his career. He passed away on 7 January 2020, at the age of 46, after battling a serious illness.
