Kharmang District is a special area in Pakistan. Think of it like a county or a region within a bigger place. It's part of a beautiful mountainous area called Baltistan. Kharmang is one of ten districts that make up the Gilgit–Baltistan territory in Pakistan.
This district shares its borders with several other important places. To the south, it's next to the Kargil district in Jammu and Kashmir. To the northeast, you'll find Ghanche District. On its northern side is Skardu District, and to the west, it borders Astore District. All these neighboring districts are also part of Gilgit–Baltistan.
What is Kharmang District?
Kharmang District is one of the five largest valleys in Baltistan. A valley is a low area between mountains, often with a river running through it. It recently became its own district, which means it has its own local government to manage things. The main office for the district, called its headquarters, is currently located in a place called Tolti.
Where is Kharmang District Located?
Kharmang Valley is about 100 kilometers (which is about 62 miles) away from Skardu. Skardu is a very important city because it's considered the main city, or capital, of Baltistan. This means Kharmang is not too far from a major hub, but it still has its own unique charm and natural beauty.
