Khashuri Municipality (Georgian: ხაშურის მუნიციპალიტეტი) is a region in the country of Georgia. It is part of the Shida Kartli area. Khashuri Municipality is about 690 meters above sea level.

It shares borders with other regions. To the east and north is Kareli Municipality. To the north is Sachkhere Municipality. To the south and west is Borjomi Municipality. And to the west is Kharagauli Municipality. The total size of Khashuri Municipality is about 585 square kilometers.

Khashuri has a good location. It sits where Eastern, Western, and Southern Georgia meet. This makes it an important place for travel and trade. The main city, Khashuri, is about 120 kilometers from Georgia's capital city.

The weather here is a moderately humid subtropical climate. This means winters are somewhat cold, and summers are warm. The two main rivers flowing through the municipality are the Mtkvari and the Suramula. The plants and trees in the area are quite diverse. You can find everything from open grasslands to mountain plants.

Many businesses are in the city of Khashuri. The main types of farming are growing crops, making wine (viticulture), and raising cattle. Other businesses include construction and large farms. The municipality has 32 public schools and 2 private schools. There are also libraries, a puppet theater, and three museums.

Population and Government

The local government of Khashuri Municipality has two main parts. The "Sakrebulo" is like a council that represents the people. The "Board" is the executive body, which carries out decisions.

The municipality includes one city, Khashuri, and one town, Surami. It also has 11 rural administrative units. These units include 84 smaller villages. The total population is around 65,000 people. Most of these people live in the cities and towns.

The city of Khashuri has been the main administrative center since 1921. Khashuri started growing as a city in the 1960s. This happened because a railway was built through Georgia. The main railway line from Poti to Tbilisi passed right through Khashuri. Large railway workshops were built here. They became some of the biggest businesses in the Transcaucasia region. Because of the railway, Khashuri is still a very important train hub today.

Most people living in Khashuri Municipality are Georgians. There are also smaller groups of Armenians, Jews, Russians, Ossetians, Greeks, and Ukrainians.
