Role in Conflict
Khem Kaur Dhillon played a part in important events during her time. In 1848, she helped the Khalsa Army. The Khalsa Army was the main army of the Sikh Empire. She helped them during a rebellion. Her brother, Gurdit Singh, and Chanda Singh also joined in this effort.
Because of her actions, the British government saw her as someone who was against them. This happened during the Second Anglo-Sikh War in 1849. As a result, her Jagirs were greatly reduced. A Jagir was a special piece of land given to important people. It came with the right to collect taxes from that land.
