Kieler is a small community in Grant County, Wisconsin. It's not officially a city or a town, but a "census-designated place," which means it's a special area defined for counting people. Kieler is located near the border of Iowa and Wisconsin. It's about seven miles northeast of Dubuque, Iowa. You can find Kieler along U.S. Highway 61 and U.S. Highway 151. In 2010, about 497 people lived there.
History of Kieler
Kieler was named after a person named John Kieler. He was an immigrant from Prussia, which was a country in Europe. John Kieler came to this area in 1855.
Education in Kieler
The only Catholic church in Kieler is called Immaculate Conception. It was built a long time ago in 1858. The church was updated in 1896. During this update, workers added a rock outside and two tall towers to the front. In 2004, a new, large gathering area was added to the west side of the church.
Students in Kieler attend Holy Ghost/Immaculate Conception School. This school teaches students from 4th grade through 8th grade. Younger students, from kindergarten to 3rd grade, go to school in a nearby town called Dickeyville.
