Kikuko Masumoto (born February 2, 1937) is a talented Japanese musician. She is known as a pianist, a music educator (someone who teaches music), a composer (someone who writes music), and an ethnomusicologist. An ethnomusicologist studies music from different cultures around the world.
Her Life and Education
Kikuko Masumoto was born in Japan. She loved music from a young age. She studied music at two important schools. First, she attended the Toho Gakuen School of Music. Later, she continued her studies at the University of Tokyo. After finishing her education, she started teaching music. She became a teacher at Toho Gakuen, the same school where she had studied.
What Music She Creates
Kikuko Masumoto writes many different kinds of music. She creates pieces for small groups of instruments. This is often called chamber music. She also composes for opera, which are musical plays. Her music is also written for singers.
