Kilmodan Church, also known as Kilmodan Kirk, is a historic church located in Glendaruel, a beautiful area in Scotland. It was built in 1783 and has a special T-shape design, typical of Georgian architecture. This church is considered an important old building, officially listed as a Category B building.
Inside its walls, you can see old stone shields from an even earlier church that stood here. One of these shields has the date '1610' carved into it. There's also a special memorial dedicated to Reverend John Maclaurin, who was a minister here, and his famous sons, including the well-known mathematician Colin Maclaurin.
The church has been carefully looked after over the years. It had a full restoration in 1983 to keep it in good condition. Today, Kilmodan Church is still used for services, though only on certain Sundays each month.
Kilmodan Carved Stones
