Kinda Municipality (which is called Kinda kommun in Swedish) is a special area in Östergötland County, located in southeast Sweden. It's like a local government area. The main town where the local government offices are found is Kisa. About 4,000 people live in Kisa.

How Kinda Municipality Was Formed
The Kinda Municipality we know today was created in 1974. Before that, it was made up of three smaller municipalities. These were called Norra Kinda (North Kinda), Södra Kinda (South Kinda), and Västra Kinda (West Kinda).
These three smaller areas had been formed in 1952. They came from nine even older, original areas. The name "Kinda" comes from a very old historical region called Kinda Hundred.

Nature and the Kinda Canal
Kinda Municipality is famous for its beautiful nature. One of its most well-known features is the Kinda Canal. This is a waterway with several canals that connect different lakes.
Boat tours can travel along the Kinda Canal. They start from Lake Roxen and go south through the city of Linköping. The journey ends in the town of Horn. The entire length of the Kinda Canal is about 90 kilometers (about 56 miles). It's a great way to see the area's natural beauty.
