King Ai of Zhou (周哀王), whose personal name was Ji Quji, was an ancient Chinese ruler. He was the twenty-ninth king of the Zhou dynasty, which was a very long-lasting period in Chinese history. He was also the seventeenth king of the Eastern Zhou period.

King Ai was the oldest son of King Zhending of Zhou, who was the previous king.

King Ai's Short Reign

King Ai became king in the year 441 BC. He took over the throne after his father, King Zhending, passed away.

However, King Ai's time as ruler was incredibly short. He was king for only three months. His younger brother, Prince Shuxi, took over the throne from him very quickly.
