King George is a community in King George County, Virginia, United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a special area defined by the government for counting people. King George is also the county seat, meaning it's where the main government offices for King George County are located.
Sometimes, people call it King George Courthouse. This is because the county's main courthouse is right here. In 2020, about 4,970 people lived in King George.
King George is also home to an important military base. This base is called the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). It's located in the northern part of the county, right along the Potomac River.

Where is King George Located?
King George is in the middle of King George County. A main road, Virginia State Route 3, runs through the community. This road can take you to other towns.
If you go west on Route 3, you'll reach Fredericksburg about 18 miles away. If you head southeast, you'll get to Warsaw, which is about 38 miles away.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that King George covers an area of about 28.0 square kilometers (about 10.8 square miles). Most of this area is land, with only a small part being water.

King George Fall Festival
One of the biggest events is the King George Fall Festival. It started in 1959 and happens every year on the second weekend of October. This festival helps raise money for the local fire and rescue squad.
The festival is packed with fun activities. There's a big parade that goes through town. You can also find a carnival with rides and games, a craft fair where local artists sell their creations, and a car show with cool vehicles. There's even a dance and a 5-kilometer (about 3.1 miles) run. A special part of the festival is the Fall Festival Queen Pageant.

King George also has a YMCA facility. This is a great place for sports and other fun activities.
Every Saturday morning, the King George middle school hosts a farmer's market. Here, you can find fresh local produce and other goods. The largest building in town is the King George high school.
