Where Was Kingston Located?

When Kingston first started, it was in Fresno County. It was about 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) west of Laton. But in 1909, something changed. The land south of the Kings River was moved from Fresno County to a new area called Kings County, California. This meant Kingston became part of Kings County.

Kingston's Post Office History

A post office is a place where people send and receive mail. Kingston had its own post office for many years. It first opened in 1859 and stayed open until 1862. Then, it closed for a few years. The post office reopened in 1866 and continued to serve the community until 1890. After that, the mail service for the area moved to a nearby place called Lillis.
