Kathleen Margaret "Kit" Pearson is a Canadian author who writes wonderful books for children. She was born on April 30, 1947, and has won many awards for her stories. Kit Pearson is especially famous for her "Guests of War Trilogy," which includes The Sky Is Falling, Looking at the Moon, and The Lights Go on Again. Another one of her popular books, Awake and Dreaming, won a big award called the Governor General's Award in 1997. In 2019, she was even given the Order of Canada, which is a very special honor!
About Kit Pearson
Kit Pearson was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She spent her childhood living in both Edmonton and Vancouver, British Columbia. When she was in high school, she went back to Vancouver to study at Crofton House School.
Education and Early Career
Kit Pearson studied English Literature at the University of Alberta. Later, in 1975, she started studying to become a librarian at the University of British Columbia. After that, she worked in libraries in Ontario. She then went on to earn a master's degree from the Simmons College Center for the Study of Children's Literature in Boston.
Becoming an Author
After finishing her studies, Kit Pearson returned to Vancouver. It was there that she completed her very first novel, The Daring Game. This book was published by Penguin Books, a well-known publishing company. In 2005, Kit Pearson moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where she lives today.

Kit Pearson has received many important awards for her books and her writing career. These awards show how much her stories are loved and appreciated.
- Governor General's Award for English-language children's literature for her book Awake and Dreaming. This is one of Canada's most important literary awards.
- Vicky Metcalf Award for her entire collection of work. This award celebrates an author's lasting contribution to children's literature.
