Kittie Doswell's Music Career
Kittie Doswell made several popular records in the 1960s and 1970s. These records are now quite rare and special for collectors. She worked in big cities like Los Angeles and New York City.
In New York, she recorded music with a group called The Night Blooming Jazzmen in 1971 and 1972. She also got to work with many famous musicians, including Leonard Feather, Blue Mitchell, Ernie Watts, Fred Robinson, and Max Bennett.
Kittie Doswell's Public Service Work
After her music career, Kittie Doswell began helping people in different ways.
From 1969 to 1974, she worked for Los Angeles County as a communication operator. This job involved helping people connect and communicate, often in important situations.
Later, in 1985, she started working for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA is a government agency that makes sure our food and medicines are safe. Kittie worked as a seafood inspector in San Pedro, California. Her job was to check seafood to make sure it was safe and healthy for people to eat.
Even though inspecting seafood can be a lot of hard work, especially for older employees, Kittie was very good at it. Her coworkers called her 'Ms. Kittie' because she was so productive. One of her biggest contributions at the FDA was helping new employees learn their jobs. She was a great teacher and guide for them.
Kittie Doswell also cared a lot about the LGBT community. She worked to raise awareness and support for this community, taking part in many fundraising events and public campaigns.
Kittie Doswell passed away on May 1, 2011.
