Kiwane Lemorris Garris, born on September 24, 1974, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a point guard, a key position on the court. Garris was known for his skills and dedication throughout his career.

College Basketball Journey
Kiwane Garris played college basketball at the University of Illinois. He was a talented point guard for the Illinois Fighting Illini. In his first year, the 1993–94 season, Garris was the second-highest scorer on his team.
For the next three seasons, he led the team in scoring. He also had the best free-throw percentage. Garris was also the top player for assists in the 1994–95 and 1996–97 seasons. He finished his college career as the second all-time leading scorer for Illinois. He scored a total of 1948 points.
Professional Basketball Career
Even though many thought Garris would be picked early in the NBA Draft, he was not chosen. However, he signed with the Denver Nuggets as a free agent. He played a short time for the Los Angeles Clippers during their 1997 preseason.
Later, he played for the Orlando Magic in the 1999–2000 season. He also played for the Grand Rapids Hoops in the CBA. Garris also played for Alba Berlin in Germany.
Playing in Italy
Kiwane Garris spent nine years playing basketball overseas in Italy. From 2001 to 2010, he played for several Italian teams. These included Banca Popolare Ragusa and Porte Garofoli Osimo.
He also played for Bipop-Carire Reggio Emilia. With Climamio Bologna, he reached the Italian championship final. He also won the Italian Supercup with them. His last Italian team was Armani Jeans Milano. After many years in Italy, Garris returned to the United States.
International Play
During a time when the NBA was not playing, Kiwane Garris joined the US national team. He played in the 1998 FIBA World Championship. His team won the bronze medal in this important international competition.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Kiwane Garris became a basketball coach. He worked as an assistant coach at Prairie State College. He also coached at Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Currently, he is the head coach for the varsity basketball team at Fulton Science Academy Private School. He hopes to one day become an assistant coach at the University of Illinois, where he played college basketball.
Personal Life
Kiwane Garris has a son named Kai from a previous relationship. In July 2006, he became engaged to R&B and soul singer-songwriter Syleena Johnson. She is also from Chicago.
On August 1, 2007, their son, Kiwane Garris Jr., was born. On February 6, 2011, they welcomed their second son, Kingston Garris. Kiwane Garris has said that Italy feels like "his home away from home."
