Klaus Dibiasi is a famous former diver from Italy. He was born on October 6, 1947. Klaus is known for being one of the best platform divers ever. He competed in four Summer Olympics for his country, starting in 1964. He was especially good at the platform diving event, winning many gold medals.

Klaus Dibiasi's Diving Career

Klaus Dibiasi started his amazing Olympic journey in 1964. At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he won a silver medal in platform diving. This was just the beginning of his success.

Olympic Gold Medals

Klaus went on to win gold medals in the same platform event at the next three Olympic Games. He won gold at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, and the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. This made him the only Olympic diver to win three gold medals in a row in the same event!

He is also the only diver to have won medals at four different Summer Olympics. Besides his three gold medals, he also won a silver medal in springboard diving at the 1968 Mexico City Games. This gave him a total of five Olympic medals.

World and National Titles

Klaus Dibiasi also did very well at the first two FINA World Aquatics Championships. These big competitions happened in 1973 and 1975. He won four medals at these championships.

In his home country, Italy, Klaus was a champion many times. He won 11 national titles in platform diving. He also won 7 national titles in springboard diving.

Early Life and Coaching

Klaus Dibiasi was born in a town called Solbad Hall in Austria. His parents were Italian, and they moved back to Italy when he was a child.

Klaus was the first Italian diver to become an Olympic champion. This was a very proud moment for Italy. He was coached by his own father, Carlo Dibiasi. Carlo was also a famous diver. He was an Italian champion from 1933 to 1936. Carlo even competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. After his own diving career, Klaus Dibiasi also became a coach for the Italian diving team. He helped new divers learn and grow.
