Klaus Dibiasi (born on October 6, 1947) is a famous former diver from Italy. He competed for his country in four Summer Olympics in a row, starting in 1964. He was especially good at the platform diving event from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s, where he won three Olympic gold medals.

Klaus Dibiasi's Diving Career

Klaus Dibiasi won a silver medal in platform diving at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He then went on to win gold medals in the same event at the next three Olympic Games. These were the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, the 1972 Munich Olympics, and the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Klaus Dibiasi is the only Olympic diver in history to have won three gold medals in a row in the same event. He is also the only diver to have won medals at four different Summer Olympics. In 1968, he also won a silver medal in the springboard event. This brought his total Olympic medals to five.

He also did very well at the first two FINA World Aquatics Championships. These championships took place in 1973 and 1975. At these events, he won four medals. Throughout his career, Dibiasi won 11 national titles in platform diving and 7 national titles in springboard diving in Italy.

Early Life and Coaching

Klaus Dibiasi was born in Solbad Hall, Austria. His parents were Italian, and they moved back to Italy when he was a child. He became the first Italian diver to win an Olympic gold medal.

His father, Carlo Dibiasi, was also a diver. Carlo was an Italian champion from 1933 to 1936. He even competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, where he finished in tenth place. Klaus Dibiasi was coached by his father. Later in his life, Klaus Dibiasi also became a coach for the Italian diving team.
