Union League Camp Facility
A special place in Klondike is the Union League Camp facility. This camp is located on 244th Avenue at 52nd Street. It hosts a program for the Army Reserve. This program helps young people learn and grow.
Before July 20, 1941, this site was a different kind of youth camp. It was called Camp Nitgedeiget. This name means "don't worry" in Yiddish, a language spoken by many Jewish people. The camp had a focus on certain political ideas. It was a place where young people gathered and learned about these ideas. In 1941, the Union League Club of Chicago took over the site. They changed it into the camp it is today.
