History of Brighton

The first people to settle in Brighton arrived in 1838. These early settlers were Dr. Johnson and a person named Mr. Wightman. They came to the area around the same time.

A post office was opened in Brighton in 1846. This allowed people to send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years but closed in 1903.
