History of Knjaz Miloš
Early Discoveries and Uses
People started using the spring water way back in 1811. A famous Serbian educator named Dositej Obradović visited the spring. He used its water for health reasons.
About 25 years later, some Russian experts and a health official from Serbia, Dr. Emerih Lindemajer, studied the water. They checked its qualities and how good it was. They were very impressed by the results. The water had special healing properties. Because of this, they brought the first visitors to the spring. This also started the first organized way of using the water.
Prince Miloš and the Spring's Name
In 1858, the Serbian prince Miloš Obrenović took action. He put the spring under the protection of the state. He also decided to build a city in that area.
To show their thanks, the local people and visitors named the spring after the prince. This is how the idea of using the Bukovička Spa's natural bubbly water for industry began. Knjaz Miloš is named after Prince Miloš Obrenović, who ruled Serbia from 1815 to 1839. The company has been working in its current setup since the year 2000.
Modern Company Changes
In 2004, an investment group called "FPP Balkan Limited" became the main owner of Knjaz Miloš. This group is part of "FPP Group" from London. They bought a large part of the company in two steps.
First, in September 2004, they bought 25% of the company's shares. Then, in December 2004, they bought another 33% of shares. This meant they invested a total of about €57 million for 58% of the company.
In January 2005, "FPP Balkan Limited" teamed up with "Salford Investment Fund." In December 2006, Knjaz Miloš received an ISO 22000 certificate. This certificate shows that their food safety is very good. It also allowed them to sell their products in the European Union.
In February 2015, "Salford Investment Fund" sold its part of Knjaz Miloš. It was sold to another company called Mid Europa Partners. Since 2015, the companies owned by Mid Europa Partners in Serbia, like Knjaz Miloš, Imlek, and Bambi, are managed by "Moji Brendovi."
In 2019, two companies, the Czech Karlovarské Minerální Vody and PepsiCo, joined together. They agreed to buy Knjaz Miloš from Mid Europa Partners. The exact price was not made public.
