History of Knjaz Miloš
Early Days of the Spring
The story of using this special spring water began a long time ago. In 1811, a famous person named Dositej Obradović visited the spring. He used its water for medical reasons.
About 25 years later, in 1836, experts from Russia and a health chief from Serbia studied the water. They were very impressed by its special qualities. They found it had medicinal properties. This led to the first organized use of the water.
Prince Miloš and the Spring
In 1858, Miloš Obrenović, who was the Prince of Serbia, decided to protect the spring. He also wanted to build a city around it. To show their thanks, the local people named the spring after him. This is how the idea of making drinks from this natural bubbly water started to grow.
The company Knjaz Miloš is named after Prince Miloš Obrenović. He was the Prince of Serbia from 1815 to 1839. The company has been working in its current form since the year 2000.
New Owners and Growth
In 2004, an investment group called "FPP Balkan Limited" became the main owner of Knjaz Miloš. They bought a large part of the company's shares. This was a big investment for them.
In 2005, another group, "Salford Investment Fund," joined as partners. In 2006, Knjaz Miloš received an important certificate called ISO 22000. This certificate shows that their food safety is very good. It also allowed them to sell their products in the European Union.
In 2015, "Salford Investment Fund" sold their part of Knjaz Miloš to another company called Mid Europa Partners. Since then, Mid Europa Partners' companies in Serbia, including Knjaz Miloš, are managed by a firm called "Moji Brendovi."
In 2019, two big companies, the Czech Karlovarské Minerální Vody and PepsiCo, teamed up. They bought Knjaz Miloš from Mid Europa Partners. So, today, Knjaz Miloš is owned by these two large international companies.
