Keeping the Pole Looking Good

Totem poles are made of wood, so they need care to last a long time. The Knowledge Totem Pole has been restored more than once.

  • In 2007, Doug August Sr. (also known by his Hul'qumi'num name, Sume'lh) helped restore it.
  • In 2021, it was refurbished again. This time, Doug August Jr. supervised the work. This shows how important it is to keep these artworks in good condition for future generations.
