In his second year, Kobi improved, averaging 17.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. By his junior year, he was averaging 21.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in 32 games. That summer, he played in special games like the Under Armour Elite 24 Game. He also attended Adidas camps.

Kobi was chosen as a McDonald's All-American in January 2016. He played in the 2016 McDonald's All-American Game on March 30. In that game, he scored 12 points and had 2 assists. Experts like ESPN rated him as a "five-star recruit," meaning he was one of the top players in his age group. His jersey number was retired at St. Francis, a big honor.

College Basketball Career

Kobi Simmons played one season of college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats. On November 11, 2016, he scored 18 points in his first college game. This helped Arizona win against No. 12 ranked Michigan State.

Later, on January 21, 2017, Kobi had a great game against No. 3 ranked UCLA. He scored 20 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and made 5 assists. Arizona won that game 96–85.

Arizona had a strong season. They won the Pac-12 Conference Championship by beating Oregon 83–80. They then entered the NCAA tournament as a high seed. Arizona won their first two games but lost in the "Sweet Sixteen" round to Xavier.

As a freshman, Kobi played in 37 games. He averaged 8.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. On April 5, 2017, Kobi decided to enter the NBA draft. This meant he would not play his remaining three years of college basketball.

Professional Basketball Journey

Kobi Simmons started his professional career in 2017. He has played for several teams in different leagues.

Early NBA and G League Years

Kobi first joined the Memphis Grizzlies in 2017. He also played for their G League team, the Memphis Hustle. The G League is like a development league for the NBA. Kobi played 32 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 6.1 points per game. He was very good at free throws, making all 25 of his attempts.

In 2018, Kobi signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also played for their G League team, the Canton Charge. He later signed a short contract with the Cavaliers in January 2019.

Time with the Hornets and Swarm

In September 2019, Kobi joined the Charlotte Hornets. He later signed a "two-way contract" with them. This type of contract allows a player to play for both an NBA team and its G League affiliate. Kobi spent time with the Hornets' G League team, the Greensboro Swarm. During the 2020–21 season, he averaged 18 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds for the Swarm.

Kobi returned to the Greensboro Swarm in November 2022. He signed another two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets in March 2023. He then signed a multi-year contract with the Hornets in April 2023. However, he was waived by the Hornets in August 2023.
