Kokomo is a small community located on the beautiful island of Maui in Hawaii. It is part of Maui County. This area sits just north of a town called Makawao.
Kokomo is found at an elevation of about 1,467 feet (447 meters) above sea level. It is also uphill from another area known as Haʻikū.
Is Kokomo a Real Place?
Many people wonder if Kokomo, Hawaii, is the place mentioned in the famous Beach Boys song. The 1988 song, also called "Kokomo", is very popular.
However, the song is actually about a made-up island. This fictional island is said to be near the Florida Keys. So, the song is not based on this real community in Hawaii.
