Kolberg (pronounced COAL-berg) is a small, unincorporated community. It is located in the town of Brussels. You can find Kolberg in the southern part of Door County, Wisconsin. County Road D connects Kolberg to nearby towns like Forestville and Brussels.
Kolberg's Early Days
Kolberg started to grow in 1893. This was when a man named Conrad Guth built his store and a creamery. These buildings were located on the same spot where the creamery stands today.
The Post Office and Store
A post office opened in Kolberg in 1895. Conrad Guth was also in charge of this post office. It was first located in his original store building. Later, when a new store was built, the post office moved across the street. The Kolberg post office closed its doors in 1907.

This 1907 postcard shows what Kolberg looked like in the early morning. The building on the right was C.R. Guth's general store, built in 1903. It was later bought by Cyril Virlee in 1946, who ran it for 15 years before closing it in 1961. The building on the left is the second creamery, built by C.R. Guth in 1898. It was replaced by the current creamery building in 1910.
