Kota Sugiyama (杉山 浩太, Sugiyama Kōta, born January 24, 1985) is a former Japanese football player. He was a midfielder who played for several clubs in Japan. He is best known for his time with Shimizu S-Pulse.

Playing Career

Kota Sugiyama was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on January 24, 1985. He started playing football at a young age. He joined the youth team of Shimizu S-Pulse in 2000.

Club Teams

Sugiyama became a professional player with Shimizu S-Pulse in 2003. He played as a defensive midfielder. This position helps protect the team's goal. He played many games for S-Pulse.

In 2008, he moved to Kashiwa Reysol for a short time. This was a loan, meaning he played for them temporarily. He returned to Shimizu S-Pulse in 2010. He continued to play for S-Pulse until he retired from football. His last season was in 2017.

National Team

Kota Sugiyama also represented his country. In September 2001, he was chosen for the Japan U-17 national team. This team played in the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship. Even though he was part of the squad, he did not play in any matches during the tournament.
