Ko Shibasaki's Career Journey
Her Acting Roles
Ko Shibasaki started her acting career in 2000. One of her first big roles was in the movie Battle Royale.
She also received great praise for her role in the 2001 film Go. For this movie, she won several awards. These included the Best Supporting Actress Award of Japanese Academy.
In 2013, Shibasaki acted in her first American movie, 47 Ronin. This film starred Keanu Reeves. It told the famous Japanese story of the Chushingura, about samurai loyalty and revenge. This was the first English-language movie based on this historical legend.
In 2017, she played the main character, Ii Naotora, in the NHK Taiga drama TV series Naotora: The Lady Warlord. Before filming, Shibasaki visited Naotora's grave.
Her Music Journey
Ko Shibasaki is also a talented singer. She is part of two music groups. One is called Koh+ with Masaharu Fukuyama. The other is Galaxias! with Deco*27 and TeddyLoid.
She started her music career in 2002 with her first song, "Trust My Feelings". She became well-known for her second song, "Tsuki no Shizuku". This song was used in the movie Yomigaeri.
Even though she doesn't create the music, Ko Shibasaki writes the words for most of her songs. Many of her songs have become theme songs for movies, TV shows, and commercials. For example, her song "Lover Soul" was the ending theme for the TV drama Otomen.
Her song "Another World" was also used in the live-action drama Mirai Nikki - Another:World in 2011.
In June 2015, Shibasaki released her first cover album, Kou Utau. A year later, in June 2016, she released her second cover album, Zoku Kou Utau.
