Cruella De Vil is a famous villain. Her name sounds like "cruel" and "devil." She first appeared in the book The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith. Cruella is known for wanting to kidnap puppies. She wants to use their fur to make coats. In the book, she has half white and half black hair. She also loves spicy pepper and very warm places.

Cruella's Story in Movies and TV
Cruella de Vil has appeared in many movies and TV shows. She is always a stylish but very mean character.
The Animated Film (1961)
In 1961, Disney made an animated movie called 101 Dalmatians. Betty Lou Gerson was the voice of Cruella. The movie has a famous song about her. The song was sung by a character named Roger. It starts with these words:
- Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil, If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will.
Live-Action Movies (1996 & 2000)
Later, in 1996, Disney made a live-action movie version of 101 Dalmatians. The famous actress Glenn Close played Cruella de Vil. She also played Cruella in the sequel, 102 Dalmatians, which came out in 2000.
TV Series and Other Appearances
After the movies, Cruella became a regular villain in 101 Dalmatians: The Series. In this TV show, April Winchell voiced her. Instead of stealing puppies, Cruella tried to take over the Dearly Farm.
Cruella returned to her puppy-hunting ways in other shows. She appeared in House of Mouse and 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure. In these, Susanne Blakeslee was her voice. In House of Mouse, there was a funny joke. Cruella would often inspect dogs from other Disney movies with a measuring ruler.
