Where the Stream Starts
Kovačevića potok is formed by several smaller streams. These streams begin high up in the mountains. They start in an area called the Guzovina - Vis elevation complex. This area is about 1,003 meters (3,291 feet) above sea level. It is located west of a village named Kovačevići.
The Main Branches
Three main branches come together to form Kovačevića potok:
- The Tocil stream: It starts at about 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) high.
- The Duboki potok (Deep creek): This stream begins at about 900 meters (2,953 feet) high.
- A nameless stream: This one starts at about 940 meters (3,084 feet) high.
First, the Tocil and the Deep creek join together. Then, this combined stream meets the nameless stream. This meeting point is between the villages of Durakovići and Kovačevići. It happens at an altitude of 672 meters (2,205 feet). This spot is right on the R-440 road, which connects Šiprage and Kruševo Brdo.
Journey to the Vrbanja River
Kovačevića potok flows into the Vrbanja river. It joins the Vrbanja between the villages of Kruševo Brdo (further upstream) and Šiprage (further downstream). The stream's path is separated from the Čudnić basin by a place called Arab Hill.
Historical Use
In the 1960s, Kovačevića potok was very important to the local people. There were five watermills built along its banks. Watermills use the power of flowing water to grind grain into flour. This shows how useful the stream was for the community back then.
