History of Kraft Mayo
Kraft Mayo first came out in 1930. This was even before another similar product from Kraft, called Miracle Whip, which was launched in 1933.
Early Days and Taste Tests
When Kraft Mayo was first introduced, Kraft did a special test. They asked people across America to try both Kraft Mayo and Miracle Whip without knowing which was which. This is called a "blind taste test." Most people said they liked the taste of Kraft Mayo more!
New Varieties Over Time
Over the years, Kraft Mayo has added more options. In 1993, they started offering "light" and "fat-free" versions. This meant people could enjoy mayonnaise with fewer calories and less fat.
In 2002, Kraft Mayo changed its bottles. They introduced new shapes, like squeeze bottles, which made it easier to get the mayo out.
Later, in 2008, Kraft released "Kraft Mayo with olive oil." This type has 50% less fat and fewer calories than the regular Kraft Mayo. Then, in 2012, they made "Kraft Mayo Homestyle." This is a full-fat mayonnaise that is thicker, richer, and a bit more yellow than the original.
Different Kinds of Kraft Mayo
Kraft Mayo comes in several different flavors and styles:
- Kraft Real Mayonnaise: This is the classic, original version.
- Kraft Light Mayonnaise: This one tastes like the original but has fewer calories and less fat.
- Kraft Fat-Free Mayonnaise: This version has no fat at all.
- Kraft Mayo with olive oil: This is a newer flavor made with olive oil. It has less fat and fewer calories than the regular version.
- Kraft Mayo with avocado oil: Another newer option, made with avocado oil.
- Kraft Homestyle Mayonnaise: This is a thicker, richer, and slightly more yellow mayonnaise.
