Krasimir Smilenov Bezinski (Bulgarian: Красимир Смиленов Безински; 29 June 1961 – 22 April 2019) was a Bulgarian footballer and football coach. He was born in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, and passed away in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Bezinski played as a defender for almost 20 years. He played for five different clubs during his career. These clubs included Pirin Blagoevgrad, CSKA Sofia, Portimonense, Maccabi Ironi Ashdod, and Hapoel Petah Tikva. He also played 21 games for the Bulgarian national team.

Playing Career Highlights

Starting at Pirin Blagoevgrad

Krasimir Bezinski started his football journey at his local club, Pirin. He played 57 matches for Pirin between 1978 and 1981. In 1981, his team reached the final of the Bulgarian Cup, but they did not win the trophy.

Success with CSKA Sofia

After playing for Pirin, Bezinski moved to CSKA Sofia. He spent eight seasons with this club. During his time at CSKA, he helped the team win many important titles.

  • He also won the Cup of the Soviet Army three times.

Bezinski shares a special record with two other players, Elin Topuzakov and Momchil Tsvetanov. They have all won the Bulgarian Cup more times than any other individual player.

Playing in Portugal and Israel

In 1989, Bezinski moved to Portugal to play for Portimonense. He played 80 matches for them over two and a half seasons.

In January 1992, he returned to CSKA Sofia. He continued his winning ways, helping them win the league title in 1992 and the cup in 1993.

Later, Bezinski played for one season in Israel. He played for two clubs there: Hapoel Petah Tikva and Maccabi Ironi Ashdod.

Ending his Playing Career

Krasimir Bezinski finished his playing career back where he started. In the 1994–1995 season, he played for Pirin Blagoevgrad one last time before retiring as a player.

Managerial Career

After his playing days, Bezinski became a football coach in 1995.

Coaching the Bulgarian National Team

He worked as an assistant coach for the Bulgarian National Team for four years. He returned to this role again from 2009 to 2010.

Coaching Abroad

Bezinski also coached teams in other countries. He was the head coach of Simba S.C. in Tanzania for seven months. He also worked as an assistant coach for Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.

He was the head coach of Al Safa in Saudi Arabia twice. After his second time coaching Al Safa, he returned to Bulgaria.

Returning to CSKA Sofia

In 2014, Bezinski came back to CSKA Sofia, this time as a scout. He also served as an assistant coach for CSKA Sofia in 2018.
