Kratos, also known as the "Ghost of Sparta", is a famous character from the God of War video game series. These games are made by Sony Santa Monica Studio. The stories are inspired by ancient Greek and Norse myths.

Kratos first appeared in the 2005 game, God of War. He quickly became the main hero in many more games. He also stars in God of War comic books and novels.

Who is Kratos?

Kratos: The Spartan Warrior

Kratos is shown as a strong Spartan warrior from Ancient Greece. He is the son of Zeus, the king of the gods. This makes Kratos a demigod, meaning he is part god and part human.

In the early games, Kratos was tricked by the war god Ares. This led to a terrible event that harmed his own family. Because of this, Kratos began a long journey to get revenge against the gods.

Kratos in the Norse Lands

In the newer God of War games (from 2018 onwards), Kratos has moved to the land of Norse mythology. Here, he raises his son, Atreus. They go on many adventures together.

In the 2018 game, Kratos and Atreus learn to work as a team. They help free different Norse creatures. In the game God of War: Ragnarök, Kratos and Atreus go on a big quest. They aim to defeat the god Odin. Along the way, they meet many new friends like Sindri and Freya.

The Voices of Kratos

The voice of Kratos has been played by different actors. Terrence C. Carson has voiced Kratos for most of his appearances. Antony Del Rio voiced Kratos when he was a child in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. More recently, Christopher Judge has been the voice of Kratos in God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarök.
