History of Kremlin
Kremlin started as a stop for people moving cattle along the Great Northern Railway. This railway helped connect different parts of the country.
The first large group of settlers, called homesteaders, arrived in Kremlin around 1910. Many of these early settlers were from Russia. They came to build new lives and farms in the area.
Where is Kremlin?
Kremlin is located in the middle of Hill County. You can find it along U.S. Route 2, which is a major highway. This highway runs along the southern edge of the community.
If you travel east on U.S. Route 2, you'll reach Havre, the main town of the county, in about 19 miles. Going west for about 84 miles will take you to Shelby.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Kremlin covers a total area of about 1.14 square kilometers (or 0.44 square miles). All of this area is land.

Getting Around
The Amtrak train called the Empire Builder passes through Kremlin. This train travels between cities like Seattle and Portland in the west, and Chicago in the east. Even though the train goes through Kremlin on BNSF tracks, it does not stop there. The closest train station for passengers is in Havre, which is about 19 miles to the east.
