Kreuztal is a town in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. As of 2012, 30,827 people live there.
The town is connected by many regional bus lines with surrounding towns. Since 1998, South Westphalia's first private bus service (Bürgerbus) has been running. Kreuztal can also be reached through the Siegerland Airport in the south of the district.
History
The first documents about the area go back to 1067. The town began to develop in 1861 after the Ruhr-Sieg railroad was made, making Kreuztal a railroad hub at that time. The town of Kreuztal was made on 1 January 1969.
In Ferndorf is the local history museum (Heimatmuseum). On show here in about 200 m² are finds from prehistory and early history, as well as handicrafts and exhibits about home décor in the 17th and 18th centuries.
