Jan Krister Allan Henriksson (born 12 November 1946) is a famous Swedish actor. He is best known for playing the detective Kurt Wallander in the television films. These popular films are based on the mystery novels by Henning Mankell.

Early Life and Acting Start
Krister Henriksson was born in Grisslehamn, Sweden. His father was a fishmonger. Krister finished high school in 1967. After that, he studied acting at the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Malmö from 1968 to 1971.
He started his acting career in theaters. He worked at the Norrköping City Theatre in 1971. Then, he moved to the Stockholm City Theatre in 1972. He became very well known in 1973. This happened when he played the main character in the play Peer Gynt at the Stockholm City Theatre.
Acting Career Highlights
In 1993, Krister Henriksson joined the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. This is one of Sweden's most important theaters. He has won many awards for his acting. In 1997, he received the Eugene O'Neill Award. This award honors great actors.
He has won the Swedish Film Award, called the Guldbagge Award, twice. He won for Best Male Lead. In 1998, he won for his role in the film Veranda för en tenor (Waiting for the Tenor). In this movie, he played an actor who was sick with cancer. He also won the Swedish Theatre Award, the Guldmasken, in 2007. This was for his performance in the play Doktor Glass.
Besides acting, Krister Henriksson also taught Scenic Design at the Stockholm School of Theater. He also helps run a film company called Tåbb Ltd. He is also a part-owner of Svenska Ljud Audioförlag, a company that publishes audiobooks.

Krister Henriksson is married to actress Cecilia Nilsson. They have been married since the 1980s. They lived together in Stockholm for many years. Krister has three children: two daughters and one son.
