Early Life and Training
Krister Henriksson grew up in Grisslehamn, a town in Sweden. His father was a fishmonger. Krister finished high school in 1967. After that, he studied acting at the Statens scenskola in Malmö from 1968 to 1971.
First Acting Jobs
After finishing his studies, Krister Henriksson started working in theaters. In 1971, he worked at the Norrköping City Theatre. From 1972, he joined the Stockholm City Theatre. He also worked for TV-teatern from 1980 to 1983. He became well-known in 1973 when he played the main character in the play Peer Gynt at the Stockholm City Theatre.
Acting Career Highlights
In 1993, Krister Henriksson became part of the cast at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. This is a very important theater in Sweden. In 1997, he received the Eugene O'Neill Award for his great acting.
Awards and Recognition
Krister Henriksson has won the Swedish Film Award, called the Guldbagge Award, two times for being the best male actor.
- In 1998, he won for his role in the film Veranda för en tenor (which means Waiting for the Tenor). In this movie, he played an actor who was sick with cancer.
- In 2005, he won again for the film ... Hope and Love. Both of these films were directed by Lisa Ohlin.
He also won the Swedish Theatre Award, called the Guldmasken, in 2007. He received this award for his performance in the one-man play Doktor Glass.
Other Ventures
Besides acting, Krister Henriksson also got involved in business. He used to be a co-owner of the Vasateatern (The Vasa Theatre) in Stockholm. This theater focused on classic comedies. He also taught Scenic Design at the Stockholm School of Theater.
He runs a film production company called Tåbb Ltd with his partner, Cecilia Nilsson. He is also a co-owner of Svenska Ljud Audioförlag, a company that publishes audiobooks. He owns this company with Carlson Invest Ltd, Frekvens Produktion Ltd, and other actors like Katarina Ewerlöf and Johan Rabaeus.
Personal Life
Krister Henriksson is married to the actress Cecilia Nilsson. They have been married since the 1980s. They lived together in Stockholm for many years. Krister Henriksson has three children, one of whom is with Cecilia Nilsson.
