Kristian Djurhuus (born February 12, 1895 – died November 20, 1984) was an important politician from the Faroe Islands. He was a member of the Union Party. He served as the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands twice, leading the government during important times for the islands.

A Leader for the Faroe Islands
Kristian Djurhuus was born in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. His mother was Elin Larsen from Porkeri, and his father was Hans Andreas Djurhuus, a master carpenter.
Early Political Life
Kristian Djurhuus started his political journey in his local town. He was the chairman of the town council in Froðba from 1926 to 1930. He continued to be a member of the council until 1934.
He became a member of the Løgting, which is the parliament or main assembly of the Faroe Islands. He served in the Løgting for many years, from 1932 to 1962, and again from 1966 to 1970. During World War II, when the Faroe Islands were occupied by British forces, he was the speaker of the Løgting. This was a very important role during a difficult time.
Serving as Prime Minister
Kristian Djurhuus was a minister in the Faroese government several times. He held positions from 1948 to 1950, 1959 to 1963, and 1967 to 1968.
He became the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands twice. His first term was from 1950 to 1958. His second term was from 1968 to 1970. As Prime Minister, he was the head of the government, making big decisions for the country.
Challenges as Prime Minister
One of the biggest challenges during his time as Prime Minister was a disagreement known as the doctors' disputes of Klaksvík. This happened between 1952 and 1956. It was a very tense time for the Faroe Islands, and Kristian Djurhuus worked hard to guide the country through this difficult period.
Kristian Djurhuus passed away on November 20, 1984, at the age of 89. He is remembered as a key figure in Faroese politics.
