A Look Back in Time: Kulachi's History
Kulachi has a long history. When the British ruled this region, Kulachi was already an important tehsil within the old Dera Ismail Khan District.
The Imperial Gazetteer of India described Kulachi Tehsil as a western part of the Dera Ismail Khan District. It was located near the Sulaiman mountains. The area had a stony plain and some barren hills on its western side.
- Smart Farming: The plain had many deep channels. These channels were very important because they collected rainwater from the hills. People used these channels skillfully to water their crops, which helped with farming.
- Population Growth: In 1891, the population of Kulachi Tehsil was 52,270 people. By 1901, it had grown to 55,053 people. The main town, Kulachi, had a population of 9,125 people at that time. The tehsil also included 81 other villages.
