Kuttappuzha is a small area, or "revenue village," located in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India. It's about 1.3 kilometers north of the main town. This area became its own separate village in 1985. Kuttappuzha is also where the main office of the Believers Eastern Church is located.
History of Kuttappuzha
Kuttappuzha used to be a village with its own local council, called a "gram panchayat." As the area grew and became more like a town, this local council joined with the Thiruvalla municipality. A municipality is like a city government.
However, Kuttappuzha still kept its status as a separate "revenue village." This means it has its own records for land and taxes, even though its local government merged with Thiruvalla's.
Geography and Landscape
Kuttappuzha is located about 37 meters (around 121 feet) above sea level. On its western and eastern sides, you can find low-lying paddy fields. These are special fields where rice is grown.
The fields get their water from the Manimala River. During the monsoon season, which is when it rains a lot, the fields near the Manimala River in Kizhakken Muthoor can sometimes flood.
In 2003, an interesting change happened in Kuttappuzha. A new, human-made lake was built within the Believers Church campus in Chumathra. This lake, called Believers Church Lake, covers a large area of about 31,000 square meters.
