Kyle Higgins (born June 12, 1985) is an American comic book writer and film director. He is famous for his work on popular comic series like Batman, Nightwing, and Power Rangers. He also created his own comic book universe called the Massive-Verse, which includes the series Radiant Black.

Early Life and Inspiration

Kyle Higgins was born on June 12, 1985, and grew up in Homer Glen, Illinois. When he was seven years old, he watched the movie Superman. This movie sparked his love for both comic books and making films.

He studied film and creative writing at the University of Iowa before moving to Chapman University in California. There, he focused on film production. In 2006, he had an internship with the Donners' Company. This gave him the chance to work with Richard Donner, the director of the Superman movie that first inspired him.

Starting His Career in Comics

After finishing college, Kyle Higgins wrote and directed a film called The League. It was about a superhero labor union in Chicago in the 1960s.

He then started writing for Marvel Comics. Later, he wrote special stories for Detective Comics Annual and Batman Annual in 2010. These stories introduced a new character named Nightrunner. Higgins also helped write Batman: Gates of Gotham, a five-issue series that explored the history of Gotham City.

Writing for DC Comics

In 2011, DC Comics relaunched many of their comic series in a big event called The New 52. Kyle Higgins became the writer for the Nightwing comic book. He also wrote the first eight issues of Deathstroke.

Later, he wrote Batman Beyond 2.0, which was a digital-first comic series based on the animated show Batman Beyond. In 2014, he joined the writing team for Batman Eternal after his work on Nightwing ended.

Creating His Own Stories

In 2014, Kyle Higgins announced his first creator-owned comic series with Image Comics called C.O.W.L.. He co-wrote it with Alec Siegel. This series went back to the world he created in his college film The League. C.O.W.L. looked at superheroes who were part of a union. It had a 1960s style and political drama. The series was very popular and finished in 2015.

His next project with Alec Siegel was Hadrian's Wall, a science fiction mystery series that started in 2016. Kyle Higgins is also set to direct a film based on this comic.

Power Rangers Comics

In late 2015, Higgins became the writer for the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers comic series for Boom! Studios. In 2018, he wrote the first big Power Rangers comic event called "Shattered Grid". This event brought together many characters from the show's history to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary.

He also wrote the story for the video game Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. He even directed the voice actors for the game and provided a voice himself.

Other Comic Projects

In 2017, Higgins worked on a reboot of the Magnus, Robot Fighter series. He also reunited with artist Trevor McCarthy for Nightwing: The New Order. This was a special miniseries set in an alternate universe where superpowers had been removed.

In 2018, he launched The Dead Hand, a spy comic series with Image Comics.

In 2020, Higgins started writing a new Ultraman series called The Rise of Ultraman. He continued writing sequels, The Trials of Ultraman and The Mystery of Ultraseven, in the following years.

The Massive-Verse

In 2020, Kyle Higgins announced another creator-owned comic for Image Comics called Radiant Black. This series became very popular and grew into its own shared universe of comics, which he named "The Massive-Verse".

The Massive-Verse started with a crossover comic called Supermassive. This comic brought together characters from Radiant Black, Inferno Girl Red, and Rogue Sun. After this, new series like Rogue Sun and Radiant Red were launched, expanding the universe.
