Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) facts for kids
The Power Rangers comic books are a series of exciting stories published by Boom! Studios. They are based on the popular television show you might already know. These comics started coming out in 2016.
At first, a company called Saban Brands was in charge of the comics. But in 2018, the rights moved to Hasbro, another big toy and entertainment company. The comics explore new adventures and expand on the Power Rangers universe, often showing what happens between TV episodes or in different timelines.

Power Rangers Comic Series
The Power Rangers comics include several different series and special issues. They tell new stories about your favorite heroes.
Main Comic Adventures
These are the main comic book series that tell ongoing stories:
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: This was the first big series. It ran for 55 issues and had some special annual comics too. It told stories from February 2016 to October 2020.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink: This shorter series focused on Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger. It had 6 issues from July 2016 to January 2017.
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers: This series explored the early days of the Power Rangers. It showed them dealing with everyday life and their new superhero duties. It ran for 32 issues from July 2017 to June 2020.
- Power Rangers: Drakkon New Dawn: This mini-series had 3 issues. It continued the story of the Ranger Slayer.
- Ongoing Series: Currently, there are two main ongoing series:
- Mighty Morphin: This series started in November 2020. It continues the adventures of the Power Rangers.
- Power Rangers: This series also started in November 2020. It follows the Omega Rangers on their missions.
Special One-Shot Comics
One-shot comics are single issues that tell a complete story. They are often released for special events.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: 25th Anniversary Special: Released in June 2018 to celebrate 25 years of Power Rangers.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale: This comic wrapped up a huge storyline called "Shattered Grid" in August 2018.
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers: Back to School: A fun special released in October 2018.
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers: Forever Rangers: Another special from June 2019.
- Power Rangers: Ranger Slayer: This comic, released in July 2020, focused on a unique version of Kimberly.
Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are longer, complete stories, often collecting several comic issues together.
- Power Rangers: Aftershock: This graphic novel came out in March 2017. It continued the story after the 2017 Power Rangers movie.
- Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon: Released in December 2018, this story featured an older Tommy Oliver.
- Power Rangers: The Psycho Path: This graphic novel from October 2019 brought back the evil Psycho Rangers.
- Power Rangers: Sins of the Future: Released in October 2020, this story focused on Wes and Jen from Time Force.
Crossover Adventures
Sometimes, the Power Rangers team up with other famous heroes!
- Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Power Rangers met the Justice League in this 6-issue series. It ran from January to September 2017.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Power Rangers joined forces with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! This 5-issue series was released from November 2019 to June 2020.
Comic Book Storylines
The Power Rangers comics have a main story that connects many of the series. Here are some of the big events and arcs.
Early Ranger Adventures
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers #1–7: The Power Rangers are new to their powers. They learn to balance saving the world with their normal teenage lives.
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers #8–12: This story is part of "Shattered Grid". The Ranger Slayer, an evil Kimberly from another world, arrives to warn them.
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers #13–16: Rita Repulsa tries to get the Green Power Coin. Jason and Trini get caught up in her plans.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0–16: Tommy Oliver joins the team. He has visions of an evil future where he's still loyal to Rita. This leads to meeting Lord Drakkon, an evil version of Tommy from an alternate universe. The Rangers also meet new friends, like the "Coinless" resistance.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #17–23: The Power Rangers meet Grace Sterling. She leads a secret group called Promethea and has a hidden past with Zordon and Alpha 5.
The Shattered Grid Event
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #24–30 and other specials: This huge event is called "Shattered Grid". Lord Drakkon tries to control the Morphin Grid, which is the source of all Ranger powers. His actions cause a terrible event that deeply affects the Power Rangers.
After Shattered Grid
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #31–39: After the "Shattered Grid" event, Grace Sterling and a new team of Power Rangers get stuck in a dying dimension. They meet Ellarien, the Solar Ranger, and learn more about the Morphin Grid.
- Saban's Go Go Power Rangers #21–32 and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #40–50: This storyline is called "Necessary Evil". Tommy Oliver starts losing his Green Ranger power. The team tries to help him. Tommy then becomes the White Ranger. New Rangers like Rocky, Adam, and Aisha join the team. Jason, Zack, and Trini become Omega Rangers and go to an alien planet.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #51–55: The Power Rangers and Omega Rangers face a big challenge. Lord Drakkon returns with a warning. Meanwhile, Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa team up to create Dark Rangers.
New Beginnings
- Mighty Morphin #1–[x] and Power Rangers #1–[x]: These are the current ongoing series, part of the "Unlimited Power" storyline. The Power Rangers get a new Green Ranger and go after Lord Zedd. Secrets about Zordon's past are revealed. The Omega Rangers might have to work with Lord Drakkon to stop an invasion, even if it means going against Zordon.
- Power Rangers Unlimited: Heir to the Darkness: This comic reveals how Karone became the evil Astronema.
Other Important Stories
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink #1–6: Kimberly Hart travels to France to save her mom and stepdad. She ends up fighting Goldar!
- Power Rangers: The Psycho Path: Andros and Karone deal with the return of the evil Psycho Rangers. Karone also struggles with her past as Astronema.
- Power Rangers: Sins of the Future: Wes Collins and Jen Scotts from Time Force try to have a relationship. But someone warns them about the future consequences of their actions.
- Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon: An older Tommy Oliver searches for his son, an S.P.D. officer, who disappeared during a secret mission.
Stories in Other Worlds
These comics take place in different versions of the Power Rangers universe or with other heroes.
- Power Rangers: Aftershock: This story happens after the 2017 Power Rangers movie. The Rangers deal with the mess Goldar made and meet a secret government group called Apex.
- Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1–4: Zack Taylor is accidentally sent to the DC Universe. The Power Rangers team up with the Justice League to fight Lord Zedd and Brainiac.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1–5: The Power Rangers meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They have to figure out why Tommy Oliver joined the Foot Clan!
Collected Editions
Many of the Power Rangers comic issues are collected into larger books called graphic novels or trade paperbacks. These are great ways to read a whole story arc at once.
