Professional Playing Career

2014: NRL Debut and Grand Final Win

Kyle Turner made his first NRL appearance in 2014. This was in Round 3 for Souths against the Wests Tigers. He came off the interchange bench, which means he started the game as a substitute player.

In Round 6, he scored his first NRL try against the Penrith Panthers. A big moment came on October 5, when he played in the 2014 NRL Grand Final. South Sydney won the Grand Final against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. Turner played in 25 matches and scored six tries in his debut season.

2015: All Stars and Injury

At the start of 2015, Turner played for Souths in the 2015 NRL Auckland Nines tournament, which they won. On February 13, he played for the Indigenous All Stars team.

During this game, he suffered a serious neck injury. This injury kept him from playing for most of the 2015 NRL season. He returned in Round 21, but got a concussion during that game. He finished the 2015 season having played 6 matches. In October, he signed a new two-year contract with Souths.

2016-2019: Continued Career

In 2016, Turner again played for Souths in the 2016 NRL Auckland Nines. He played in 23 matches that season and scored 3 tries.

In 2017, Turner played in 21 games for Souths and scored one try. He was also chosen to play for Country League in the last ever City vs Country Origin match.

In 2018, Turner played only one NRL game for Souths. He spent most of the season playing for the North Sydney Bears in the reserve grade competition.

In 2019, under new coach Wayne Bennett, Turner returned to the main team. He played in 16 matches for Souths as they finished third in the regular season. In September, it was announced that Turner would leave Souths due to salary cap rules.
